Online Profile of the Week

While I can appreciate his honesty, you probably should wait a bit before mentioning this:

"I was just released after serving 4 years in state prison for bad checks. I feel that I need to share this as the very first thing because I want you to know that I come with that baggage."

Right.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

Ok, my loyal blogger following (who knew?) has requested that I start posting again. It's heartwarming to know that people actually read this thing and I promise that I'll be better going forward.

Let's see.

I'd love to tell you that in the two months I haven't posted that I've fallen madly in love with a hot J. Crew model and we're totally moving in together as soon as his lease is up...but well, that would be a bold-faced lie.

Instead I've done the following:
1. Become an eHarmony dropout. My three months of cheap rates were coming to an end and I'm not paying $40 a month for me to figure out that the guys in DC suck.
2. Signed up for Match.com while I was vulnerable and the damn thing was on sale. So far, not much has come of it but it's only been a week.
3. Revamped my profile but I still think it's missing something. Or maybe it's the lack of pictures. Anyway, I would love an honest critique so email me if you'd like to see it and maybe you can help me get more people interested.

So that's really it. I just got an email that JDate is looking for a blogger. You get a free subscription and I think I might just be witty enough to enter. Who says you can't triple-dip your online dating sites?

Ok, it's past my dinner time and no one wants to be around me when I'm hungry.

Thanks again for reading, you crazy kids.

Love and other indoor sports,
Ally

Google Stalking

My name is Ally and I'm a Google Stalker. I will probably always be a GS - I'm super nosy and that hasn't changed in 32 years. I know I shouldn't necessarily stalk potential dates but don't tell me the curiousity wouldn't kill you, much like the cat.

Anyway.

Today I found one potential downfall to the Google Stalk - the mutual friend. So I've finally reached the email stage with this guy from eHarmony. His email contained his full name and per usual, off to Google I went, barely even reading his email (which, for the record, has been kind of boring with no sign of asking me out - but that's a rant for another day). I found his Facebook page and then discovered we have a mutual friend. I sat on this information for a day and then I had to know the situation. And I got the dirt from Mutual Friend and some of the information paints Potential Date (PD) in a semi-negative light. Nothing that I probably wouldn' t have found out anyway and I'll still go out with him, but I wonder if perhaps I should have just sucked it up and waited.

Thoughts from the peanut gallery? Do you Google Stalk? Positive? Negative?

Next time: Passive guys are online dating because they are passive and how this is super frustrating.

Have a great weekend!

Hello Party People!

Well 2009 is finally over. Thank god. It wasn't the greatest year for me, so I'm happy to embrace 2010 in all it's January new-ness. Not too much on the dating front due to the holidays but here are a couple of tidbits. I feel like putting them in number form for ease of typing (and reading).

1. JB Cop stopped emailing me, so I wrote him off. I still do think he's too young for me. Then yesterday, out of the blue, I get a happy holidays, I've been busy text. Hmmm. Whatever - I texted him back hoping that we could finally get together. I'm not holding my breath.

2. Not much on the online dating front. Matched up with some interesting people but just radio silence - no closing but just no communication. Weird.

3. Met a guy last night, organically! I'm pretty sure nothing will happen (I feel that if he wanted to get my number he would have asked but instead I got a "so, you know my friend and you know, we should all hang out"). I found out he's going through a divorce, so he's probably not in the greatest place anyway, but boy he was hot. And it was great to remember that I've still got it. I am going to try to get out and about more in 2010 - because I think that will help as well.

We'll see - I have a good feeling about this year and hopefully I'll be able to close down this blog because of the fantastic relationship I'll be in. Here's to hoping!
